TAFISA, together with the Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC), delivered an INTERACT onsite training on Building Organisational Capacity in Gaborone on 15 and 16 October. Organised as part of the legacy of the 30th TAFISA World Congress, to be held in Gaborone in 2027, the training aimed to strengthen the capacity of Botswana's national sport federations to promote and develop Sport for All.
Facilitated by Patrik Peroša, advisor to the TAFISA president, alongside local co-trainer Kesegofetse Tatedi, the training gathered 21 representatives from a diverse range of Botswana's sport organisations, among them the softball, bowling, fencing and cycling associations as well as the Paralympic Association of Botswana.
Over the two days, participants reflected on the concept of Sport for All, its role in society and how national federations can structure it within their organisations. They then explored how to design Sport for All initiatives around target groups, purposes, venues and timeframes, before working on action plans for their own organisations in a final workshop.
Participants were very positive about the training and left with concrete plans, from introducing non-competitive programmes to bring more people into para sport and making badminton inclusive for all, to catering for non-competitive swimmers and drafting a Sport for All policy for the Botswana Volleyball Federation.
TAFISA thanks the Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) for its partnership, as well as Patrik Peroša and Kesegofetse Tatedi for their time and contributions. We wish all participants the best in bringing Sport for All to life in their organisations.
